Best Way to Change the Atmosphere of a Room with Feng Shui

One way of changing the atmosphere of a room is to use your own chi. If you walk into a room feeling happy or excited, some of that inner energy will radiate into the room. This can help to disperse any bad atmosphere that is still present after, say, someone has expressed strong emotions or following a violent argument.

Some of that disruptive energy will remain in the room and it needs to be cleared so that everyone can move on.

You can do this consciously by meditating and focusing your mind on positive thoughts. To help spread your energy through the room you can use sound waves. Like ripples spreading across a pond, sound will help spread your positive energy. Hand bells, gongs, clapping, chanting, or your favourite piece of uplifting music are common ways to spread harmonious energy.

Happy children playing games or a contented pet will also radiate their own chi energy, altering the atmosphere of the room. The sound of genuine laughter will quickly pick up the energy.

Using candles

A candle can help disperse chi energy. As you meditate you can imagine sending your thoughts into the flame so that they disperse throughout the room.

Change the energy

Choose a room in which you want to change the energy. Wait until you feel generally happy, strong and focused. A walk in the fresh air, stretching or exercise may help.

Sit comfortably in the room and focus on want you want from life or from the room. It may help to light a candle and place it in front of you so that you can stare into the flame. Do this for as long as it feels right. The time is not important.

Every time you have a good thought take a deep breath and imagine exhaling those thoughts into the room.

Sounds to clear bad energy

Empty your mind and feel the room. Sense if any areas are fresh or stale. Clap your hands several times in stagnant areas. Use a hand bell to disperse the energy in areas that feel too chaotic. The sound of a large gong will move the energy around the room. Once the reverberations have faded the room should feel revitalized.

Use your voice to spread your own chi energy throughout the room and cleanse and refresh your own chi. Breathe deeply several times and then let out a long ‘aah, oc, mmm’ sequence of sounds. Relax, leave the room and return later to see if you can feel the change in atmosphere.
