Best Way to Do a Face and Scalp Massage to Relieve Tension Headaches
A face and scalp massage alone can help relieve tension headaches, increase your energy level and help improve your circulation, thus improving your appearance. It is worth using a very small amount of good quality light oil or a little moisturizer so you don’t stretch the skin of your face. This routine can be carried out King down or seated.
- Place both hands at the base of your skull, your fingertips meeting in the middle. Using small, circular frictions, gradually work your way to the sides of your head, just behind the ears. You may like to pay more attention to any spots that feel tender or tight.
- Gradually work your way upward, continuing with the frictions until your hands meet at the top of your head. Then massage the whole of your scalp in this way.
- Place both hands over your eyes with your fingers on your forehead and the heels of your hands on your cheeks. Spend a few moments like this breathing deeply.
- Stroke along the sides of your nose, along your cheekbones to your ears. Run your fingertips down along the jaw line until your hands meet at your chin. Repeat two or three times.
- Gently knead along the jaw line from your chin to your ears. Then gently knead your ears upward from the lobes.
- With very light, circular movements, massage all around the mouth, cheeks, the sides of the nose, and the eyes. Stroke over the eyebrows and down around the top of your cheekbone with your middle finger until you teach the top of your nose.
- Apply gentle pressure to the inside of the eye socket and hold for several seconds.
- Using your fingertips, stroke upward from the bridge of your nose to the top of your forehead. Repeat this several times.
- Now massage with both hands, using small, circular movements from the bridge of your nose to your hairline, then down to your temples.
- Finish your massage with extremely light stroking all over your face, and take a few deep breaths before gently proceeding with your day.
