Best Way to Make Avocado Mask

The natural oils in avocado make this fruit an excellent moisturizer for every hair type, except oily. Just mash the avocado, massage into the hair, cover with a shower cap, and rinse out after 30 minutes. Shampoo and condition as normal.

No-rinse conditioner

  • 3 drops carrot-seed essential oil (if this is hard to find, substitute neroli)
  • 3 drops chamomile essential oil
  • 3 drops lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops rosemary essential oil

Mix the ingredients in the palm of your hand and apply immediately (wash hands afterward.) This scalp-stimulating hair-gleamer can be applied to towel-dried hair (not scalp) after shampooing; it penetrates immediately, so there’s no need to rinse.

Hair fruit salad

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 2 tbs coconut milk
  • 1 tbs papaya juice

Mix the ingredients well and apply to towel-dried hair. Comb through well, put on a shower cap, then wrap in a towel.

To turbo-charge the effects of the “fruit salad,” aim a hairdryer at the towel to warm it (from a distance of about 1 ft.). Shampoo twice and rinse as normal.

Once you have mastered the art of using this hair salad, try experimenting with different tropical fruits – preferably fleshy rather than citrus fruits – since they will produce a thicker hair treatment. Also you could try adding advocado to the mix, which contains shine-boosting natural oils.

Straight-from-the-bar-rinse

Mix the organic ale and cider vinegar together in a glass measuring cup and pour over your head as a final rinse after shampooing. Let it dry naturally. Do not be afraid to experiment with other natural ingredients to make hair rinses and treatments. As you become familiar with making your own beauty treatments from fresh fruits, vegetables, base oils, and essential oils, you’ll discover what your hair type responds to best. However, if your scalp is particularly sensitive, perform a patch test first.
